If you scroll through my Twitter or Instagram timeline you will notice that, starting January 17, 2019, many (even most) of my posts include a hashtag #dotcom. Doing a search for the hashtag will return a random set of people and topics. At the moment there does not appear an organized movement using the tag. So, you might ask, what does it mean when I use it?
For me there’s nothing symbolic about it. There is no great unifying topic which can be understood by assembling all the posts which include the tag. Its very simple. All posts in my timeline that use the tag are intended to be aggregated on my personal website – right here on this page in the footer! I have programmed the footer feeds to load the three (Twitter) or the single (Instagram) latest post of mine which include the tag.
